Meet our director

Dr Loukas Nikolaou is a registered Counselling Psychologist (DPsych) and Certified Schema Therapist. He offers a warm, collaborative space to make sense of difficult experiences and work toward lasting change, with sensitivity to culture and identity.

My approach

I use an integrative, collaborative approach, drawing on Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), and person-centred methods.

Treatment is tailored through shared goal-setting and regular review. Guided by trauma-informed principles—safety, choice, trust, collaboration, and empowerment—we work at a steady, manageable pace that prioritises stability while enabling meaningful, durable change.

Initial Assessment (60 min)

Individual Therapy (50–60 min)

Long-Term Therapy

A focused first meeting to understand your history, current difficulties, and goals. We’ll agree a plan and answer any questions about the process and confidentiality.

Ongoing sessions tailored to your needs, drawing on Schema Therapy and CBT methods. We work collaboratively at a steady, manageable pace, with regular reviews to track progress.

When patterns are deep-rooted or long-standing, a longer frame allows careful, emotionally focused work. We combine stabilisation with schema-informed change to support lasting shifts.

Group Therapy

Clinical Supervision

Group Supervision (for clinicians)

A structured, trauma-informed skills and support group (typically 8–12 weeks, small cohorts) led by Dr Loukas Nikolaou. We focus on grounding, emotion regulation, compassion practices and interpersonal skills. 

Reflective, trauma-informed supervision for trainees and qualified clinicians, with an emphasis on Schema/CBT formulations, ethics, and steady, sustainable practice.

Small-group, schema/CBT/TF-CBT-informed supervision with an emphasis on case formulation, ethics and reflective practice. Meets monthly or fortnightly.

Schema Therapy

An in-depth, emotionally focused approach for long-standing patterns that keep you stuck. We map triggers and emotional patterns, understand unmet emotional needs, and develop healthier responses balancing stabilisation with deeper change.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

A structured, goal-focused therapy that links thoughts, feelings and behaviour. We identify unhelpful patterns, test alternatives, and practise practical skills you can use between sessions to support day-to-day progress.

Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT)

An evidence-based protocol for trauma. After building safety and regulation skills, we work—at your pace—on trauma memories and beliefs, using gradual, supported methods to reduce distress and strengthen resilience.

Person-Centred Therapy

Grounded in empathy, respect and collaboration. Sessions move at a manageable pace, with space to be heard and understood, so change grows from a safe and genuine therapeutic relationship.

Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)


Helps reduce self-criticism and shame by cultivating a kinder, steadier inner voice. We use imagery and compassion exercises to support emotion regulation and confidence.

Mindfulness

Brief, practical exercises to steady attention and nervous-system arousal. Mindfulness supports grounding, sleep, and relapse prevention, and can be integrated alongside other therapies.
